Preliminary Injunction granted against Florida’s Social Media Censorship Law

The Northern District of Florida issues a preliminary injunction against the Florida Social Media Censorship Law SB-7072, finding it to be flagrant viewpoint discrimination. As the Court concluded, “[t]he legislation now at issue was an effort to rein in social-media providers deemed too large and too liberal. Balancing the exchange of ideas among private speakers is not a legitimate governmental interest.” The permanent injunction will eventually follow, after millions of taxpayer dollars are wasted on a political stunt that violates the Constitution and the values of free speech.
